There be some teams performing in January. I wanted to give you the dates ahead of time. I will post what teams will be performing when we return to dance. If there is for some reason a conflict with the dates please let me know asap.

We have decided to go ahead and close the studio tomorrow. I have been sick and the Z pack they have given me is not helping. My little girl is also sick. We are short a teacher and a babysitter. We have a lot of students that where not coming tomorrow or so that is what they told me.  I will make this up to you at a later date. I hope you will understand. I am hoping this will actually make your day easier. Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will see you on the 2nd of January!

Pointe Shoe Guide

This is a special time for some of our dancers as some of them will be going en pointe after the winter break! I hope you are all as excited as I am :) I evaluated the girls that were old enough and strong enough to possibly start pointe work. After carefully evaluating them I have told the girls individually if they are ready or not, so if you daughter is included in the bunch then this post is very important!

As there are so many students going en pointe, I will not be able to go to the store with each class and assist them in getting their first pair of pointe shoes. So, I wrote this very long, detailed, pointe shoe guide that I hope will all make you feel comfortable and educate those who are unfamiliar with pointe shoes. Don't let the length discourage you from reading through it all! I didn't have anything like this when I started, but it would have been much easier if I had this knowledge back then!

The Studio will be closed on Thursday the 13th

Kambri is getting Married Thursday afternoon with a dinner afterwards.  This takes away all our teachers for Thursday. I will feel more comfortable with closing the studio rather there be 3 subs with no one that knows what is going on. We hope that you can be understanding with the situation. I do want to provide you with a make up class. I am hoping what I have decided to do will be the best option for this crazy holiday season! The girls get out of school early on Friday the 21st.

ELITE AND SENIOR COMPANY ROUTINES

If you noticed in the Competition Entry fees it states 5 routines. I know in the costumes it only has 4 listed. Originally we where wanting to attend a more difficult competition that cost a lot more money. We have decided against that. The Elite Co. expressed their thoughts and they had strong feelings about doing one more routine. I want to make sure the girls voices are heard and that they are having a great year. I want to try to give them what they want. I know this wont always be possible but this is an easy request to grant! I am trying to make sure we can do a great costume at a low price for you. I will get this out to you with the Hip Hop cost asap!

THANKSGIVING SCHEDULE

The Studio will be closed November 21st 22nd and 23rd for Thanksgiving. Please have a fun and safe holiday! We are so Thankful for all of you and especially your daughters! They bring so much joy to our lives. Thank you for letting us be a part of theirs!

EXTREMES

The Extremes will be having a Saturday Practice to learn their 3rd routine with Joni. This is a mandatory practice and all girls need to be there. They will be learning the whole routine. If there is a problem please contact me as soon as possible! Saturday December 1st 10:00-12:30

ATTENTION COMPANIES!

The girls will be learning choreography and auditioning for Girl on Fire Routine this Thursday during class time. Make sure you are in class on time and ready to work hard!

PRACTICE OUTFITS!

I sent home order forms for practice outfits a couple of weeks ago. I have not recieved very many of them back. I would love to get all of them handed out. Please get those handed in asap. We are getting new shrits this year that are $16.01 and we will be using the brown hot shorts from last year. If you are new to the studio or need a new pair the set of shirt and shorts will be $28.82 . Please be sure to feel out an order form so I know what you need!

I am still waiting to hear back from one of the competition directors for her to confirm the entry fee prices. I do not want to post the cost until I hear back from her. I would hate to post the wrong amount. I will post it as soon as I hear back from her!

HALLOWEEN DRESS UP DATES!

The following day will be the only class the girls will dress up for Halloween. We will use halloween music for warm ups and across the floors and play games only the last 10-15 min of class time. You are more than welcome to bring a treat to share! The studio will be closed on Halloween. Any concerns please call me.

SATURDAY PRACTICE FOR COMPANIES

If the SF football team wins this Friday night we will be practicing on the field the next morning the 27th from 8:00a.m.to 10:00a.m. make sure the girls dress really warm and in layers. I will post on the blog Friday night the results of the game! The girls are looking great and working hard!

Class tomorrow the 26th will be held from 4:00-7:00 so you can rehearse with the Elite and Senior Companies for the possible football performance!

Optional Group Routine


The Teen and Junior Company have the opportunity to audition for a routine to be competed with the Senior and Elite Companies. This is optional to those who want to put in extra time and money. We will hold auditions at the end of their class next Thursday November 1st . They already know the choreography so it will only take a few minutes. You will get a sneak peak of the routine if we perform at the football game. This is a very quick version of the routine and will change quite a bit after the performance! Please let your daughter know whether or not she will be participating before auditions next week!

The Studio will be open Momday through Wednesday. We will be closed during Fall Break. Those of you that attended EPIC last last Friday are welcome to attend a makeup class. Teen Company would come on Tuesday 6:00-8:30  and the older girls would come Tuesday 3:00-6:00. Enjoy your Break!

ISSUING OF COMPLAINTS

Dear Parents, We are asking you at this time to please come to us when you have a concern.  We would much rather talk with you and try to resolve the situation rather than you talking with each other and escalading the problem to the point that it seems like a much bigger problem than what it really is. We do our best to provide you with what you need.  If your daughter is happy please try to remember this reflects that we as teachers must be doing a great job. If you yourself are unhappy please come to us personally or give us a call. We will be able to form a solution together.  I think it would be best for all of us to focus on all the good that is going on. This will result in a successful year! I do want to thank the few moms that I get regular phone calls of Thank you's. It means more than you know.

NEW ATTENDANCE POLICY

We are having a major problem with girls missing dance this year. We will be implementing a new policy that goes in to effect this week. Please read closely so we are all on the same page.

The teachers will be taking role and if your child is gone, comes late, or leaves early (more than 10 minutes) it will count against them. They will be allowed 8 total (this is all of their classes combined including technique and ballet) marks against them. Once they have hit that they will have to sit out of a performance. We feel that this is the only way to keep it under control. This will help the girls to decide if they really need to miss for certain things and also if they are really truly sick. We have girls sitting out often because they are sick aka as lazy for the day! If they do choose to sit out and watch that will be a mark against them.

 We hope that this will help and everyone will abide by the rules.

EPIC INFORMATION

We will be meeting at the studio on Friday the 5th at 1:30 to carpool. The girls need to pack dance clothes and all dance shoes, snacks for energy and a swimming suit! I need the moms that are going to text me and let me know how many girls they can drive up asap. We might need more moms to help drive. On Saturday the girls will showcase all their routines at 3:00 and scholarships will be given out. All parents are welcome to come watch.

PAPA MURPHYS FUNDRAISER

Papa Murphys has coupon cards with several discounts on it. We will be selling them for $6.00 and your profit is $5.00!!!!! Super great right?  If  you sold between 10-15 you would pretty much have one costume paid for! This is a great opportunity for your daughter to earn some money for dance. This is how it is going to work.

Step 1: email Jamie Andersen @ jmeandersen@hotmail.com  and let her know how many coupons you want to sell. This needs to be done by next Monday September 24th.

Step 2: Pick the coupons up from Jamie @ the studio on Tuesday the 25th from 5:00-6:00 or Wednesday the 26th from 5:00-6:00 Please hand your check or cash directly to her. Do NOT put it in the drop box. Example: If you think you can sell 30 coupons you give her $30.00

Step 3: Sale your coupons to anyone and everyone. Have them right checks directly to you for $6.00 so you make back your $1.00 you paid for them. Then once you are done selling you can right one big check to EDC for $5.00 per each coupon sold and we will add it to your account! I know people will ask if they can just put ALL the money ($6.00) they make on their account? So the answer is yes whatever your heart desires! There obviously will not be an exact date to have your money turned in but I would not wait to long to get it done.

ST. GEORGE HOTEL ROOMS

I have blocked out some hotel rooms for those of you that need one. They are at the Hampton Inn just located by the outlets. The cost is $120.00 and includes breakfast. Please call asap and let them know you are with RELEVE dance competition. The phone number is 1-435-652-1200.

This hotel is also super convenient to the High School. If you just take that main road that the outlets are on and head south you will run right into the school.

ROCKSTARS AND PETITES MONDAY DROP OFF AND PICKUP SCHEDULE

Please drop your child off in the back studio for ballet. After class the Petites can be picked up in the front and the Rockstars in the back! Please help us with this so no one will get lost or scared!

There are a lot of girls that are in need of new brown hot shorts. The T-shirts that some of the girls made did not turn out so well. So we have decided to get new practice out fits with a tank top that they can also wear to awards. This helps uniformity as a studio and we look professional. I will have the price out later this week. I just wanted to give you all a heads up.

EPIC HOTEL ROOM

The cost of the Hotel room will be $36.00 per person. This will include breakfast on Saturday morning. They will be fed dinner Friday night and lunch Saturday included in the price for EPIC. COMPETITION DATES

I don't have all the dates set in stone yet. I have looked at your surveys and trying to make everyone happy is taking a long time. I am pretty sure I wont make you all happy. So many competitions are held on the same weekend, over spring break, over sunshine tournament, etc. etc. It will be hard to find a variety of competitions and attending 4 would mean middle of May. (We all know MAY is INSANE) I did want to let you know that we will be attending RELEVE @ Desert Hills High School in St. George March 22nd 23rd. Teams are all on Saturday solos duos and trios are held on Friday.. We attedend this same one last year. I am working on getting a group rate at a hotel for everyone. I will get the other competition dates out to you asap!

The Studio will be closed on Monday September 3rd for Labor Day!

MONDAY AUGUST 20TH

Please remember the photo shoot today. We really want all the girls in the pictures. The address is 833 south Westpark Drive in Spanish Fork. We will also be selling a cd with all the pictures for $10.00 if anyone is interested. We will be taking head shots of each girl. If you missed the parents meeting I will have all the papers there for you to fill out. Also please remember to pick up your fundraiser items today. We want to clarify some confusion with the company program.

The paper filled out at tryouts stated that you would not automatically make a company by marking that selection. There where certain technical requirements to be on a company. If you also look at the post about our new company program it stated that if we felt your daughter was ready. We are sorry for the confusion and will try to make ourselves more clear next time.

I will return all phone calls and text messages when I am not up to my neck in paper work trying to get a schedule finalized and two very grumpy kids asking me not to work anymore!

NEW COMPANY PROGRAM!

We are excited to announce our new Company program for this upcoming year. We have had a lot of you expressing interest in taking your dance training a little further.We will be offering 2-3 company teams for ages 8 and up. The younger groups will train 7-8 hours a week and the older would be 10-11 hours a week. This will allow for them to take ballet twice a week and a hip hop class. (There will be hip hop available to those who choose not to do companies.) I will not have the hours set until I see what our schedule will be. This will not mean more days of dance just longer hours in a day. Other requirements will be the following:
You must attend EPIC dance convention
Possible dance convention/competition or Nationals
2 ballet classes per week
4-5 routines
We will be having a meeting to determine all this once the teams are all placed.
cost per month would range from $145.00-$170.00 depending on the hours.

There will be a paper for you to fill out the day of tryouts. This will let us know that you are comfortable with committing to a Company if we feel that she is on the right skill level on the day of tryouts, or let us know that you are happy with the training and hours you have been getting. We do feel that the girls technique has been looking much better since we added that extra technique class last year. We are confident that whether you choose to do a company or stick with a team you will be satisfied and it will be another great year! EPIC DANCE CONVENTION!

It is time to get registered for EPIC dance convention. It will be held on October 12th and 13th at the Homestead Resort in Midway. The cost per dancer is $200.00 this does not include the hotel room. We put 4-5 girls in a room and divide the cost. This is such a great experience for the girls. A weekend full of great dance training and just great fun! If you will be attending there will be a non refundable deposit of $30.00 due by July 9th. Feel free to continue to make payments up until the first of October. Also attend our fundraiser day on July 2nd to help pay for this event!

We are so excited to announce our Master class on Thursday June 14th. Age divisions and times to be announced at a later date. The cost will be $40.00 per girl to start out with. If we get enough girls to cover the cost then we can lower the price. Please sign up at the front desk with your payment and if the price changes we will credit your account.

He’s danced with and for... some of the biggest names in the music business and he was born and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah!
Since a young boy, Hefa has been dancing and training in nearly every discipline of the art form, from hip hop, to ballroom both international and Latin, to jazz, contemporary and ballet, you name it. At the same time Hefa was also spending time playing sports like football, rugby and basketball, while also developing his musical skills on guitar, ukulele, piano and drums, singing and writing music.
At about age 14, Hefa began focusing on dance and was quickly cast as a featured dancer in "High School Musical 2". Shortly there after he joined the cast of the Nickelodeon TV series "Dance on Sunset" where Hefa was one of the “Nick 6”. The weekly show highlighted the "Nick 6" teaching their viewers the latest dance steps, breaking down the moves to help inspire young dancers. Choreographed by Tony Testa they also performed with guest musical guests Akon, Natasha Bedingfield, Miranda Cosgrove, Fall Out Boy, Fergie, Janet Jackson, Sean Kingston, Lil' Mama, Jesse McCartney, Menudo, Omarion, Panic! at the Disco and Ashlee Simpson.
Hefa then returned to dance once again for Kenny Ortega in the feature film, "High School Musical 3" and from there has gone on to continue his successful dance career performing on stage, television, music videos and on tour with Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Ne-Yo, Nicole Scherzinger to name a very few... and is currently the dance captain for Chris Brown.
His worked for some of the greatest choreographers of our time but he enjoys working most with Rich & Tone Talauega. They're like older brothers to him and share a lot of the same culture and background. They see a lot of themselves in Hefa since first meeting him on the set of Chris Brown’s “Transform You” music video. “I was like, Rich, we gotta keep him close to us says Tone, “It was like this is the one we’re gonna pass our knowledge and wisdom too” adds Rich.
Hefa’s greatest influence in his life are his parents Hefa Sr. and Karley, both former dancers, they have raised him to enjoy life and have fun with everything, dance to the fullest, and never lose his love and passion for it. They taught him he could do anything and this is something Hefa continues to pass on to his younger brothers Soa and Niua.

SUMMER PRINCESS CAMP!

We are having our 2nd annual Princess camp for ages 3=4 and 5=6. They will be held in June on Tuesday the 12th Wednesday the 13th Tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th from 1:00-2:30 we will highlight a different princess each day with a craft and light snack. JULY SCHEDULE

It is hard to give out an exact schedule for July until we have each girl on a team. Plan on dancing
July 9th-12th and 16th-19th between 9:00-12:00 it is important that they are to class these two weeks.  We will be teaching choreography and a lot of it!  I will have an exact schedule right after auditions that are now being held on Monday July 2nd!

AUDITION SCHEDULE CHANGE!

We have had to change our audition date due to the fabulous wedding of Katelyn and Justin! We will now be holding auditions on Monday July 2nd! This will be only one day and we will be using the material they learn at the summer intensive! We will also review the material during the two weeks of summer technique. COMPETITION SWIM PARTY!!
The year is unfortunately coming down to an end... But no better reason to PARTY!! We will be having an end of year swim party for all competition teams Monday, May 7th from 4:00 to 7:00! It will be at Kambri's house, 833 South Westpark Dr. in Spanish Fork. Subzero will be there making ice cream so if you want ice cream bring $3 dollars to Joni at the party. FUNDRAISERS

If any of you would like to come up with and be in charge of any fundraisers please let us know.  I think it would be great to try to do some of these to make it possible for more girls to be able to attend EPIC dance convention. We would also like to try to put together a performance trip to California next summer!

BALLET DRESS REHERSAL @ SFHS

We will be having a dress rehersal for the Ballet number on Tuesday May 8th @ 2:30 sharp. I apologize for the early time and do realize that you will have to get your kids out of school. This is the ONLY time that I could arrange for this practice. It will be until 3:30 and then they will need to be back to the high school at 6:15 for the show!

ROCKSTARS SUMMER CAMP!

We will be holding a one day summer camp for the Rockstars on Thursday June 7th from 9:00-12:00 this will take place for them instead of the 3 day summer intensive. The cost will be $30.00. They will be doing Jazz, Ballet, and Hip Hop!

MAPLE MOUNTAIN COMPETITION APRIL 28TH

JET SET PRACTICE!

We will be having a Jet Set practice to be ready for our next competition. We will have that same Tuesday practice that we have done before. Tuesday April 24th 3:30-5:30 Jet set 5:30-7:00 Ballet!

MANDATORY BALLET PRACTICE!

There will be a mandatory practice for the ballet number for ALL teams on Thursday April 19th at the studio from 4:00-6:00!

BALLET SKIRTS!

All the teams will be performing a ballet number in our end of year show. They will be wearing their black leotards, pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Shannon is making each of them a wrap skirt for the cost of $3.00 please have this paid for by April 27th! There will also be a mandatory practice on Thursday April 19th at the studio from 4:00-6:00! Everyone must attend!

We are excited to try out our new schedule for summer and feel that this will give us a jump start on our routines so during the school year we can try to really focus on more technique and ballet! JUNIORS, PREMIERS, & EXTREMES

We will be having class on Tuesday February 28th and March 6th with these three teams combined to work on Jet Set and their ballet performance for the end of the year show! The schedule will be for these two Tuesdays only unless we feel they are going to need more. They will practice Jet Set form 3:30 to 5:30 and ballet from 5:30-7:00!  I understand it is a longer dance day for them but it is very much needed and will pay off!

SUPER SATURDAY SCHEDULE!

We will be having a mandatory mock competition at the studio on Saturday March 10th. We will have some fun guest pretend judges to give the girls some great constructive criticism.  We will also be having a studio building activity with all of our teams.  Please have your dance paws, practice outfit on and hair pulled up! Moms please please have your girls there on time or even five minutes early!

Our end of Year Show will be held @ the Spanish Fork High School on two nights.  Tuesday May 8th and Wednesday May 9th.  All competition teams will be performing both nights. They will be doing all their routines on Tuesday night.  This is when you want your friends and family to come.  They will just be doing one to two routines on Wednesday night.  There is a $35.00 review fee per family! This allows us not to charge your family at the door!
